Why Do People Marry?

In one of my subjects, the topic under discussion is about marriage. The frequently asked question is “Why do people marry?”

What would be your answer to this question?

My Dream for Education

“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”― Malcolm X

I spent my childhood playing and dreaming of becoming a nurse, a doctor, and a lawyer, all at the same time. When I reached high school, I suddenly wanted to become an artist, maybe because of the social media influences and other social stuffs. Then the college applications happened in a flash, like an unexpected visitor, it seemed like a disturbance to my life at that time. Time came when I finally had to decide, my most frequently asked question (FAQ) at that moment is: What is really my dream? Suddenly, dreaming became so hard, and all of my childhood dreams remained as merely part of my childhood memories.

Eventually, I decided that I wanted to become a special educator. How? Well, it happened when my father went out-of-town and I asked him to buy some books for me. I was expecting him to buy some Danielle Steel novels, but what he brought for me were classics, one of them is “The Story of My Life” by Helen Keller. It so happened that my curiosity struck in; I read that book first, and everything else followed through.

After that, I successfully managed to get into Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan, with the course that I knew I wanted, and now,  dreamed. Now, by God’s grace and guidance, I am in my third year. My FAQ this time is, “What is my dream for education?”

The only thing that’s clear for me is that I want to become a special educator someday and that I really want to teach children with special needs. As of now, I’ll end this entry with that question of mine. Everything may still be quite blurry for me right this moment, but I know that God will help me find my answers and that He will be with me throughout the process.

Self-respect

May I be capable of accepting myself as I am; a person who walks and feels and talks like anyone else, but who, despite her faults, is also brave.

For the first time, I will smile without feeling guilty, because joy is not a sin.

After Earth movie by Will Smith

“Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination causing us to fear things  that do not, at present, and may not ever exist. That is mere insanity Kitai. Danger is very real, but fear is a choice.”

-Cypher Raige (Will Smith), After Earth

I’m glad I watched this movie. It’s not just about the tech-y stuffs at all like most people commented about it.

The movie tells a lot more about what’s possibly going to happen when the  planet Earth will come to its end. Just the thought of it gives me shivers all over. But the bottom line is “God will never forsake us” because God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!

The Feast: Where the River of Blessings Flow!

For my first journal entry, I take this significant night as a blessing and a gift from God. Having experienced The Feast truly refreshed and purified my quite unhealthy spiritual being. Like the moment I went out of the venue, I just know this will definitely not be the first and last time that I’ll experience The Feast. That’s the exact moment when I realized that “I have to go back to this place and hear some more about God and get to know Him more than I think I already did.”

The people there were so warm, friendly, and welcoming. As a first timer, I honestly did not feel alienated from these people. After all, we’re all gathered there for the same reason.

with “the humorous and inspirational speaker of the night” I truly salute you sir. God bless you and your family.

One of the highlights of the night is the speech of the speaker who came all the way from Manila (I feel terrible that I forgot his name although he really was amazing). I learned so much about accepting and appreciating the differences of people. As what they all say, it’s the difference that drives us crazy sometimes, but at the same time it is what makes us appreciate and see the beauty of a person. And as the speaker said, “Don’t try to change people; instead, love them so that they may desire to change.”

FEAST DECLARATION OF ABUNDANCE

“Today, I receive all of God’s love for me.

Today, I open myself to the unbounded, limitless, overflowing abundance of God’s universe.

Today, I open myself to God’s blessings, healing, and miracles.

Today, I open myself to God’s Word so I would become more like Him everyday.

Today, I proclaim that I am God’s beloved, I am His servant, His powerful champion.

And because I am blessed, I am blessing the world, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

My words sound better coming from my hands than from my mouth: perks of being a wallflower.
